Hosting an international student can be a richly fulfilling and rewarding experience, with many families opting to repeat the experience year on year. Many students form close friendships with their host families and maintain contact frequently throughout the year via social media.

We are a small scale and quality orientated operation who place English language students, mostly from Northern Spain, in homes across the Monaghan area for short stays, usually 2 weeks. These students are aged from 11 onwards with some adults also seeking the experience. We try to place children in families with children of a similar age range.

Each student is placed strictly on a one student one family basis with an emphasis on social activities and avoiding contact with other Spanish speakers. Each student has spent time in an academy in Spain, and each is able to at least communicate at a basic level in English. Their objective is simply to expand their English language fluidity and confidence, and to have fun. These students do not attend any language classes while in Ireland and gain everything they need from social interaction within the family and with friends.

We focus on the home rather than the house with special consideration given to activities organised outside the house. These need not be costly activities but can include walks, outings and visits to friends and family.
